What GRAMS is
GRAMS is a macro and calorie tracking app. You log meals by photo or by typing a description, and AI estimates the protein, carbs, fat, and calories. GRAMS is currently a free, small-scale beta — this policy will be revisited as the app grows.
Information we collect
- Account info: your email address and password, handled by our authentication provider (Supabase). We never see or store your raw password.
- Profile info: weight, height, age, sex, activity level, and goal — used only to calculate your daily macro targets.
- Meal data: photos you take of food, any text you type describing a meal, and the resulting logged macros and timestamps.
- Basic usage data: standard server logs (e.g. request timestamps) generated by our hosting provider (Vercel) for reliability and abuse prevention.
How your data is used
Meal photos and descriptions are sent to Google's Gemini API to identify food items and estimate macros. Under Gemini's free-tier terms, this content may be used by Google to improve their models. Please only photograph food — not people or personal items. Your profile info is used solely to calculate targets shown back to you. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Where your data lives
Your account and meal data are stored in a Supabase (PostgreSQL) database in the United States. Meal photos are stored in Supabase Storage, accessible only to your own account. Transactional emails (signup confirmation, password reset) are sent via Resend.
Your choices
You can edit or delete any logged meal at any time from the History tab. You can permanently delete your entire account — profile, targets, every logged meal, and all photos — yourself at any time from Profile → Delete account. This takes effect immediately; nothing is held or archived afterward.
Local storage
GRAMS stores one small preference — your light/dark theme choice — in your browser/device's local storage. It never leaves your device.
Children
GRAMS is not directed at, and should not be used by, anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
As GRAMS grows past its current beta, this policy will be updated to reflect any new features, monetization, or data practices, with the date above kept current.
